How to Store Seasonal Clothes in Plastic Bins
A lid keeps dust out. It also keeps moisture in if the clothes were not dry.

Quick method: Wash and fully dry every item, put one useful category in each bin, fold without forcing the lid, and label two sides. Keep the bin off a concrete floor.
Dry clothes, or a sealed bag

Step by step
- Wash according to the care label and dry every layer, including waistbands and hoods.
- Sort by the way you will take them out. One person or one season per bin.
- Fold so the lid closes without pressing. If the stack sits above the rim, use a second bin.
- Label two sides. A short list is faster than opening every bin.
- Put the bin on a shelf, not on a damp basement floor, and out of direct sun.
What not to pack
- Anything still damp, or a stain you have not washed.
- Leather, fur, or a garment that needs to hang.
- Clothes you will want next week, buried under a stack you cannot lift.
A larger tote is not automatically better. If you cannot lift it onto the shelf, split the load. The tote size guide is for that measurement, not for this packing step.
